IHS Caps Off Successful Season at NJSIAA Meet of Champions

Great close to a fantastic season!

The 2017 edition of the NJSIAA Indoor Meet of Champions is officially in the books! Spartans Gianni Riga and Mark Schwalm made their appearances today at the John Bennett Indoor Sports Complex as the first 55m state champion and the first 400m runner to make the indoor Meet of Champions in school history.

Although not qualifying for the final, Riga ran a respectable 6.94s for second in his preliminary heat of the 55m. Schwalm lowered the indoor 400m school record to 53.93s from his 54.27s run at Groups the week prior, an effort good enough for 27th place.

As the curtains close on our indoor season, we congratulate Gianni, Mark, and the rest of the 2016-2017 indoor track team on their great efforts this year!

Riga and Schwalm Lead the Way at NP-B Group Championships

Gianni Riga, center, taking 1st in the 55m dash

Meet of Champions, here we come. At the State Group Championships, Gianni Riga became the first track athlete in Immaculata history to capture a state title. He won the final of the 55m Dash in 6.91s after setting a school record and personal best of 6.88s earlier in the day while winning his preliminary heat.

Joining Riga at the Meet of Champions will be Mark Schwalm, who finished fifth in the 400m with a school record and personal best time of 54.27s.

The Boys' Meet of Champions will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, at the Bennett Center in Toms River.

Welcome to runIHS!

Welcome to runIHS, your primary source for general news, updates, race and practice information for the Immaculata High School Cross Country and Track & Field teams!

Over the past few years, we've sparked an initiative to get the IHS XC and Track teams more organized and more competitive than ever to "get back on the map." This is a part of that initiative, and we're so excited to launch this page to be used for years to come.

We're going to be using it for general information about the team. This includes, but is not limited to; practice and meet schedules, race results, team records, and weekly training plans. All those tabs are listed above, and we'll be working on getting them up and running as soon as possible. We'll also be using this page for news blasts about team performances and other events.

And since we're so fancy now, you can even get news updates in your email from runIHS! We'll probably add all of the parents to the mailing list from the current list that we have, but if anyone else would like to subscribe to updates, you can do so in the form to the right.

We've also enabled comments on the main page of this site, so if you have any quick questions to ask us, you can just leave a comment down below.

So the general gist of runIHS is to get everyone on the same page and keep everyone informed. No longer will information be exclusive to an email chain or a group chat -- it will all be available here! We're hoping that you use the website to its fullest potential so that we can all stay connected and informed.

That's about all for this post. We'll be updating all of the pages shortly. Thanks for tuning in!
